The charitable programs of the
Vedic Temple are designed to help individuals live a blissful and harmonious
life; when each individual shares his bliss with others, it contributes to
the collective positivity and happiness of the society around him. Our non-profit is completely volunteer-run, with
zero overhead, and 100% of all donations are used for charitable purposes. The following are separate, designated secular
programs, offered to one and all in the community, regardless of faith or
religion. Donations and matching contributions to any of these programs are
used for furtherance of the programs objectives and activities. Program: Nithya Anna
Dhaan (Serving Food Daily):
Food is Sustenance; we are what we
eat; sharing food brings communities together It is well-known that we are what
we eat. Eating food prepared with love and bliss nourishes and calms the body
and mind, and maintains it in a blissful and healthy state. Sharing this food
brings communities together. In keeping with this tenet, Vedic
Temple serves delicious meals free to all visitors regardless of faith,
throughout the day. Meals are also served free at various events hosted by
Vedic Temple including special workshops, programs or events done in and
outside the premises. On an average, we have been serving about 400 meals a week
for the past six months. We will also be reaching out into
the community in the Greater Seattle area, and distribute fresh,
specially-packaged food, free to shelters, seniors and others in need.
Cooking events and exhibitions will be organized to share the joy of cooking
and feeding, to share recipes and food, and encourage healthy eating habits
and choices. Donations to this Program will go
towards this purpose including, but not limited to, the cost of acquiring
supplies and ingredients, and the cost of preparing and of distributing food. Program: Nithya
Aradhana (Celebrations through Cultural Programs):
Life is a
celebration All the Indian classical arts music, dance, painting,
sculpture, drama stem from an ancient, living tradition which emphasizes
that life is a celebration every instant. Vedic Temple organizes concerts and
demonstrations by premier visiting and local artists and experts, onsite at
the Temple and elsewhere. These performances promote the artists, and
facilitate cross-cultural exchanges in our community. Since these classical
arts are always rooted in and emphasize bliss and the joy of life, these
performances spread bliss in the community, of which we are a part of. Vedic Temple will provide a platform for artists
to teach and reach out to interested folks in the community, young and old
alike, and expose to them the finer aspects of other cultures and arts. Donations to this program will go towards this
purpose organizing and scheduling events, programs and classes, working to
bring artists to Seattle, promoting both local and visiting artists, and
introducing the arts to the new generation. Program: Gnana
Dhaan (Gifts of Wisdom)
Peace is in each
and every one of us! We believe that peace originates with each one
of us. Peace begins in being completely at ease with ourselves. No one can
invoke any negative emotions in us unless we already have them in us. If
every individual is peaceful, naturally the world is peaceful. Spreading
peace, love and bliss to every individual in the community is the
over-arching goal of the Vedic Temple. To this end, we organize seminars, discourses,
and workshops which offer everyone key insights and techniques to handle
stress and emotions and stay blissful all the time. Themes and topics are
chosen to address specific problems stress, work pressures, relationships,
etc. - faced by each one of us and the sessions center around:
These workshops are offered around the Greater
Seattle and Vancouver areas, and have touched schools, businesses, senior
centers, events and homes. Currently,
our free seminars reach out to an average of 150 people every month. We
believe that understanding ourselves in deeper ways helps us all appreciate
and celebrate life, so everyone is welcome regardless of political or
religious affiliations. Donations to this program will be used for this
purpose to schedule and organize seminars and discourses, and spread the
joy of blissful living to everyone in the community. |
