In these classes we will Explore the swaras that make up a ragam. Learn traditional basics (Sarali Varasa, Janta Varasa, Alankaram, Geetam, Varnams) Learn small simple devotional songs and krithis Learn sanskrit chants to experience the power of sound vibration Do simple yoga poses, breath exercises and short meditations to open the voice and the body. Early exposure to intricate forms of music has been shown to significantly influence early brain development and intelligence. Classes will be offered for children as young as two years in age. Classes will be held at the Vedic Temple starting in September. Kids Class (ages 2-6) : 10:45-11:30am Sundays 5-5:45 pm Wednesdays Kids Class: (ages 7 and up): 11:30am to 12:15 pm Sundays 5:45pm to 6:30pm Wednesdays Adults: 12:30-1:30pm Sundays The teacher: Jaya has several years of musical training. She learnt music from Meera Krishna and more recently from I.Ashok at Sadhana School of Arts. She has also attended workshop sessions with SriVidya Chandramouli. |
