Homas (Fire Rituals) are a profound way of invoking the Divine energies. Homas were originally invented by the Vedic Enlightened Masters and Rishis. According to Taitriya Upanishad: - from ‘akaasha’ or ether came air or ‘vayu’ - from ‘vayu’ came fire or ‘agni’ - from ‘agni’ came water or 'aapaha' - from ‘aapaha’ came the earth and finally everything else. Enlightened master Paramahamsa Nithyananda beautifully explains that the entire universe including our bodies is made up of these five elements - earth, water, fire, air & ether, going from grossest to subtlest. The realm of the Divine energies is in the ether or 'Akaasha'. Since it is very subtle an ordinary person cannot feel these energies on a regular basis, but during such Homas everybody will be able to feel the Divine energy of God. So Homas are powerful rituals to invoke divine energies from ether to earth using the following process: - Through visualization or meditation the energy is brought to ‘akasha’ or ether or space. - From ether through mantra chanting it is brought to the air - Through fire rituals in the Homas it is brought to the fire - From the fire it is transfered to the ‘kumbha’ or water - And finally the water is sprinkled on the people doing the Homa and then installed in the temple Deities through Abhishekam (Holy Bath). When done together like this event an enormous amount of energy can be infused into an entire city for collective peace and harmony of the region. Mahasaptayagam is a beautiful Homa cognized by enlightened master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. It includes seven homas for the guiding energies of the seven chakras of the body. Lord Ganesha, Lord Subramanya, Lord Surya, Lord Venkateshwara, Devi, Lord Anandeshwara and Guru are the presiding energies of the respective seven chakras – Mooladhara, Swadhisthana, Manipuraka, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna & Sahasrara.
